Good afternoon,
We are currently planning work for next financial year (2026-2027) and as part of our improved engagement process, we wish to make you aware of essential carriageway resurfacing work that is programmed to take place in your area.
C6201 - Harton Farm to Westhope site has been identified via a combination of local engineering judgment and asset management data as needing essential maintenance. The site forms part of a countywide programme of schemes, scheduled to deliver the work in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
The scheme will involve resurfacing work, which is the placement of a new asphalt layer which is applied by a paving machine and then rolled to achieve a smooth, strong surface. Resurfacing is a vital part of Highways maintenance; it improves the long-term condition of roads, helps to prevent structural problems in the future and reduces time spent on smaller repairs, such as filling potholes.
A road closure will be required to ensure the safety of road users and those carrying out the work.
We hope that this investment will be seen as positive news, however we are aware that work of this type will cause some disruption.
Therefore, we would like to know of any concerns, queries or any local issues or events that we will need to take into consideration when planning this resurfacing work.
We would be grateful if these could be sent to Shropshire Highways via email: Highwaysconsultation@shropshire.gov.uk
Kind regards,
Laura Howells,
Communication and Engagement Officer,
Shropshire Highways.
